THE GUIDE

Your first shave, in three points.

Not a complicated technique. Three habits to remember.

Your first shave, in three points.

Not a technique. Three habits.

  1. 1

    Don't press.

The razor doesn't need help. Rest the head against the skin and let it travel. If you feel yourself pushing, ease off — there's nothing to force.

  2. 2

    Lay it flat.

Rest the head flat against the skin. The 30° angle is built into the head, so there is no angle to hunt for — keep the contact flat and let the geometry work.

  3. 3

    Short strokes.

Shave in small sections, with the grain first. Rinse the head often. No need to go over the same spot again and again: one clean pass beats three heavy ones.

And if the first shave isn't perfect, that's normal. Give it two or three shaves — the movement gets more natural as you settle into it.

What if the first shave isn't perfect?

That is normal. It usually settles in two or three shaves, not one. Start slow, without pressing, and keep the head flat until the pass feels comfortable.
